starting all over again...

june 2010

i've lost track of this project. turns out i started this 15 months ago during a time when our lives were... quieter. so much has changed since then.

we moved. when i started this we were rotting in camp hellhole and frankly, i sort of believed that that's the way it was always going to be. oh me of little faith!

we're still rotting. we're just doing it now in a better place.

when i started this my aunt sandy was still alive. aunt linda had health concerns but nothing scary. my dad was still months and months away from the quadruple bypass that caught everyone by surprise.

when i started this my awesome mother-in-law, though not exactly the picture of vibrant health, was between health issues and looked to be getting stronger. it was a long year for her. and for us, and for everyone who loves her. one thing led to another, which led to another, which ultimately led to her death a year after i started this project.

i miss her.

when i started this project i was really looking forward to the bruce springsteen & the e street band concert we had tickets for at the end of that month. we went. we loved every moment of it. a year later we got tickets to the eagles "long road out of eden" concert on may 14th. it was postponed but we did get to see them on june 1st. it was a good concert.

when i started this, we were anticipating the arrival of the 2010 winter games. the countdown was just underway and it seemed like it was still a long way off. time flew. they arrived. canada kicked ass! it was a spectacular time and made history so many different ways.

when i started this i was really hoping that we'd get a chance to go home for a visit. we did. in august we went to hamilton and helped my brother turn 50. it was an intense and all-too-short week, but exciting just the same.

15 months after i started this, we're talking about going to calgary for a while this summer, and to the island. there's plenty i want out of the remainder of this year, but at the top of that list is that, with luck, the health problems of our nearest and dearest will be kept to a minimum.

it's been a long year, and it's been a short year. to steal a quote, it was the best of times, it was the worst of times...

what a difference a year makes...

we can also be found...

if it matters...
